This year the Adelaide Perry Gallery exhibited 44 finalist works in the Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize. Visitors were invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award. This year I was lucky enough to share the prize with fellow artist Kate De la Motte. My charcoal drawing ‘Water Under the Canberry Bridge 2020‘ reflects my strong sense of place and deep love of the Australian countryside.
Canberry is the aboriginal word meaning ‘meeting place’. We know this area today as Canberra.
Winding its way through the heart of the Australian National University, on its way to Lake Burley Griffin is a beautiful little waterway called Sullivan’s Creek. It is a place full of life and abundant with wildlife and energy.
Where there is water, there is a place of meeting. The joining of water, wildlife and people.
