Through the window, 2015
Graphite on paper
25cm (h) x 27cm (w)

This drawing is from my exhibition, Windows, doors and dogs of Vence, France in 2015.

Vence was the most captivating little French town, full of history and stories. The windows in Vence are themselves works of art. They have the most beautiful coloured shutters, often crooked with time and exquisite ironwork. Sitting at the cafes sketching the windows and watching the people of Vence go about their daily activities, I wondered who were the people who had looked out of these windows and what were their stories.
